i made it to work today!
I didn’t make it to work yesterday. I blame Mondays. I couldn’t sleep the night before, until around 5 in the morning and after managing to sleep(even if it was for a couple of hours) and wake up on time I felt like an asteroid had hit my head and was coughing up my lungs so called in sick once more.
However, I was determined to go today. I woke up exactly when the alarm went off. In fact I woke up a few times during the night thinking it was time to get up but waited until it actually was time. I am a sleep addict after all. I got ready incredibly fast and everything was falling into place this morning. The clothes matched the first time around. The clothes were also appropriate for the freezing weather we are having. My hair was done in 2 minutes and looked better than it had looked for months. I left the house earlier than ever before and was able to stroll my way to work (instead of walking so fast I get shin splints) while having a chat with my ma on the phone. I didn’t get there before everyone else though. One of my colleagues had beat me to it because she is always incredibly early to the point that I won’t even bother competing.
Things got crazy as soon as I opened my email. Everything done (or sometimes not done) in this company is always accompanied by 3 to 4 emails. So it took me at least 45 minutes only reading the emails and flagging them on importance and follow up factors. I like that Outlook has different colour flags. I have coded each colour to a specific kind of meaning so when I finished sorting out all my emails, my screen looked like a Sony Bravia advert had barfed all over it.
To make this a shorter story; this was a normal day at work. My cough is not gone yet though. I now sound like I am an 80-year old man who has been smoking for 150 years. Also my voice comes and goes as it pleases. It changes pitches all the time and I sound like a yodeller on crack (kind of like Gwen Stefani). This is not good when you have to answer phones.
What did you think that there was twist? You are waiting for a punch line? Well, today you don’t get one!
