a quick visit
A light breeze comes my way. It smells like summer but it’s not possible, summer’s too far away. Elvis is singing to me a romantic song like he has done for so many in the past and will continue to do so in the future.
-…Hello!
-…Hello!…
We go way back. He knows me and I know him. We were never the best of friends but he was always there for me. We catch up as I walk home after a long day. Me, my MP3 player and him. Close proximity and sweet talk. He is not singing for me but he will be singing for me soon.
-…Jim said hello.
-Just tell her…
Just then the phone rings. Oh will you stop? I’ve had enough of you all day…
-I’d like to tell her
-What I’m really feeling but just tell her Jim said…
Hello? I’ve answered the phone. What a shock! The world does not revolve around me! My housemate thinks it revolves around him though… I tell him to stop grumbling over everything and hung up on him. My friend from the past is still singing to me. Now he’s telling me that “it’s now or never”. I’ll take the offer. I turn around. I’m not walking towards home anymore. This is power walking. I’m sure I look ridiculous but I need to go a different direction and fast.
I’m outside, looking in. I ring the bell. My ma opens the door. I give her a big hug and a kiss. There are butterflies floating inside my tummy. You’re right Pandora; I didn’t ruin that feeling forever.
