I love my city of Brisbane. Brisbane is located in Queensland which has no daylight savings. I think I mentioned earlier the joke about Queensland being twenty years and one hour behind the rest of the nation, but it is kind of true. Brisbane really is just one big country town. I reflected upon this today as I sat in the Queen Street Mall in the Central Business District and watched pedestrians pass. I was looking for a reason, it wasn’t because I was expecting someone, nor was I just having a perve, but I was observing the people, or, more specifically, the way they dress.

I had left home this morning to go pay rent and buy a pair of new jeans. I’m not great at buying clothes, I like to have a second opinion because I have discovered what looks good on a store dummy does not necessarily look good on this dummy. So I decided to take a break and sit in the mall where I could have lunch and observe people’s clothing to see if there was any particular style that took my eye. There was no style at all, old thongs, board shorts and mismatched T-shirts (on those who were wearing shirts) were all the rage. Brisbanians have no style when it comes to clothes and here I am trying to be trendy and vain.
