embrace it baby!
I finally remembered to post this.
On October the 14th of 2006, Amnesty International threw another one of their magnificent balls, the Secret Policeman’s Ball, in favour of raising awareness on human rights. This was the first one since 1991 and what a show it was. This year subtitled “The Ball in the Hall” as it was held at the Royal Albert Hall. If you missed it when it aired on Channel 4 then you still have a chance to see it.
Buy the DVD.
Among the many collaborations, sketches and performers that went on that stage that night, were the following. I’m sure you have seen the clip that started it all and if you haven’t just search for “Torn Mime” on YouTube or Google Video.
Only this time there is a twist… so watch the whole thing. The mime’s name is David Armand and I’m sure you will recognise the other person on the stage.
I was very happy to see her embrace this and other artists should be inspired by her. Too bad that in this version you cannot hear the audience and what was going on under that stage very well but you can imagine.
Natalie Imbruglia, well done!
