love is a battlefield, sure, but you have to go through a roller coaster park to get there

It was decided unconsciously that from now on I shall be known as “that-boy-that-dates-a-lot”. I must admit it’s not as cool as “Sir Mix-a-lot” but at least it rhymes with it so this must win me some coolness points. Needless to say that all this was decided in my very own head, no one else was involved in it. I say this because I am dating. Yes ladies and lads, I am back in the game of love (sort of). It’s now been a couple of weeks since the day I decided to enter the world of dating.

I had forgotten how it made you feel like Alice in Wonderland. And it’s a deep hole that rabbit hole and one that you go through on a roller coaster. It takes you down, then up and just when you think the rest of the trip will be predictable it twists you and turns you. It takes you sideways and while this gives you a great view of everything that you’re passing by you can’t help but want it to end so you can catch your breath and start walking on Wonderland. It is a fun ride of course but one that takes a while to recover from. Like the first time I got on the Space Mountain at Disneyland. It took me 15 minutes to relax again and bring my heart rate back down from that wild techno song it was beating to.

Oh, what a beat that heart of mine had and how disappointing it was when I got on a different ride. One that did not twist me as hard, one that didn’t make me feel like my feet would never touch the ground again. I tried so much to have fun on that ride because I wanted to experience it to the full but at the end of it I felt like it was just too much work. Roller coaster rides should not resemble work in any way, just like dates shouldn’t.

I believe that being on a date should not be too relaxing. The “it’s a small world after all” ride should describe new friendships and not new relationships. There should be some excitement involved for that spark to ignite and set the room on fire.

Wish me luck, I will need it… Have you seen what’s out there?
