I Like My Job
I like my new job, I’m learning a good deal and I work with fantastic people. The place has an excellent reputation within its own subsection of the industry and will no doubt advance me in the future if I decide to stick with it.
As a child, even as a teenager I never thought I would work in hospitality. While many seem to look upon hospitality as an ‘easy’ job I actually view it as a very demanding role, one for which I thought I would never be suited. I never thought that I would cope with long hours on my feet, carrying things while trying to avoid obsticles and please people.
One of the main problems with hospitality is people’s views on the industry, either mine or everyone else’s. I personally suspect that my view is the correct one and everyone else has the wrong view. Namely most people who I have encountered within hospitality work in the industry while waiting for ‘a real job.’ Perhaps it’s an industry problem, that a career in hospitality isn’t really thought of as a real career. At least that’s my perception of the general public’s view.
I was discussing the idea with my ex the other night, another hospitality worker. We were discussing the idea of startnig up our own little place one day. We agreed on almost everything except: I wanted leather bound menus and he wanted wooden notepad style ones; I want a restaurant and he wants a cafe-restaurant.
I suppose there was a point somewhere in these words, oh yeah, I like my new job.
And just because we haven’t used the ‘Daily Fact’ subheading for a while: Daily Fact number whatever: I was a caesarian birth.

Congratulations on liking your new job! How about a cafe-restaurant with leather bound menus?
Commented on September 14th, 2007 at 2:49 amHi Adrian!
Here’s hoping that I haven’t messed up completely and that I’ve found the right Adrian.
We miss you in Wysteria and Eric is preparing to run up an enormous phone bill by calling every cafe in Australia (or maybe it was every Adrian in Queensland). We haven’t heard from you in almost three weeks.
Please drop us a line at the forum or send me an email.

Commented on September 15th, 2007 at 3:41 pmHi again!
Thanks for sending us a note in the forum.
We’re glad to know you’re okay, and hope that the family issues are getting worked out. We can certainly all understand how busy you must be right now. We just wanted to let you know that we missed you.
Would you like one of us to look after your nation for a while and take care of the delegate stuff? If so, send Bruce, Kama, or I the login info for FBT, and we’ll keep it in tiptop shape until you’re able to come back.
And sorry for posting here again, all off topic, but I can’t find your email address, so this is all I’ve got.
Thanks!
Deanna
Commented on September 16th, 2007 at 9:47 pmI’m glad that things are working out for you, work wise at least, Adrian. We were all a little worried, remembering that even after you were attacked that you managed to get word to us. I loved the video on your previous blog post about the fake Arab in the fake motorcade.
Back to the old region, your delegate nation is about to die of inactivity. Wysteria just needs to know if you can either give the Forum Mods the Password to carry out UN duties over the short term or if you want to step down for someone else to take over as Delegate long term, triggering elections. Thanks.
