One, two, too many jobs

Today I went into my old restaurant to catch up with some chefs I’ve known. I was in the door for less than a minute and i recieved:

1 compliment on my shoes
1 compliment on my clothes (they were used to seeing me only in uniform)
2 job offers

OK, well it was just the one job offer, but then repeated with more money. I loved it there, I’m soooo tempted to go back, but I don’t want to screw over my friend who I currently work for. So here’s my delima:

a) Continue working for my friend, shit pay, lots of stress, but it’s a job that looks great on paper despite being in a tiny and unrecognized place.

b) Go back to working at a place I romanticize in my head constantly, get paid more, do a shitty job that looks crap on my resume in a terrific place.

I left (b) to go to (b), now I’m wondering if I’ll switch back. Do I want to be the boss of a small place, or an employee of a large place? Big fish in a small pond? A small fish in a big pond? A medium fish crumbed, panfried and served with a wedge of lemon?
