Stupid stuff

Well I quit my job. It was a heat of the moment thing. I’m not even sure why I quit in the end, but I am mostly glad that I did.

So I went out with the guys from work last night, had a few beers, but was still pretty sober. Brendan the Norwegian started taking me to task because I almost made him cry when I told him he had made my Sunday shit. Sunday was shit, the busiest day with the angriest customers and he turns up an hour late and drunk.

My best friend from high school whom I have known in over a decade also turned up enexpectedly and took me to task because my family was poor. One of his friends started to jump on the bandwagon and tell me how ugly I was. All in all I was feeling pretty shit.

It was mailbox night again (on Wednesday nights everyone gets a number printed on thie shirt and you can leave a message for someone if you like them). and they thought it would be funny to write me messages from old people and lesbians, capitalising on my years of being single and insecurities that I have about my physical appearence.

I was then told by another work member that I could be a bitch at work and was in the middle of being berated when this guy I like walked up, started listening to the conversation, and then turned away and left no doubt thinking that if my friends say such nasty stuff about me that I must be a bastard.

It was at this point that I decided that I don’t want to deal with these people ever again and so I rang work and gave them ten hours notice. I was polite about it, and I only legally needed to give them 2 hours notice and I arranged someone to cover my shift so I hope that they’re OK. So now I’m unemployed.

Jobless, boyfriendless, friendless, almost homeless because the nuns who own the place I rent are going to tear it down and build a carpark.

  1. holy moly

ok, lets prioritise these problems - the nuns aren’t going to knock it down in the next week are they, if no, then we can sort that one out later
priority is to get a job - didn’t you have a choice recently - is the other one still open?

as for what the other guy thought, you’ll have to ask him, you can’t say with any certainty what he may or may not have heard/thought, he may have thought you were helping your “friend” sort out a problem for all you know!

unless you’re not using your picture for your avatar, you look quite cute to me, so forget them, jealousy is such a burden eh
    listen to Baz Luhrman…NOW

i hope you sort things out pronto buster

  2. Adrian :: Oh sweetie! Things will work out. They always do, at least for the people I know! You’re so lucky to know me (you can thank me later)!

Hugh :: Great advice but that Baz Luhrman one had me in stitches and I’m at the office! Still great advice! I’m rubbish at giving advice.

  3. on our mammoth postings earlier, were were dicussing Mr Luhrman - there’s an alternative on youtube though i don’t recommend Adrian listens to that version.

  4. Thanks for the support guys, I’m fine. I’m looking at this whole thing as a way to change everything about my life that I don’t like. I must say, I’m quite excited about job hunting. I haven’t been unemployed in many years now (I’ve always been head hunted from one position to another). I’m really quite excited about the prospects of new jobs in new areas for me! I already have some interviews lined up for next week. I imagine it won’t be long before I’m ganifully employed, even if I do remain in my current industry, simply because I have glowing refrences from: The best fine dining restaurant in the state; one of the top three catering companies in the world and one of the national barista finalists (he might even manage to win the finals and become national champion).

If worse comes to worse I can always quit fine dining and go work in hotels or even Starbucks. Hmm, I hear the Hilton is hiring at the moment…
