technical problems with email notifications

Hey guys,

The blog has been acting a little weird the past couple of days. It has stopped sending notification emails to me and all who have subscribed to posts. It’s being looked into. Hopefully I will manage to sort it out soon because otherwise I can’t track what you guys are saying until I actually visit the back end (tee-hee, I said back end) of the blog (which means no automation whatsoever) and you can’t see whether I have responded to your comments or not.

I’ll keep you updated but if you commented recently check the posts manually for new comments. I have replied to most. Please let me know if any of you have received any notifications over the last 2 days so I can at least find out when this started happening and if it’s happening to everyone.

Update: The issue has been resolved with a temporary measure. Emails are now sent via SMTP which works but takes a bit longer sometimes. Let’s hope that when I upgrade WordPress this will no longer be an issue and I can switch back to PHP mail which is faster.

Hmm some of the comments are coming in late. but i’m going to blame gmail for that. google’s been having so many problems lately with timely deliveries.

I think you should blame my SMTP. I don’t think it’s because of Gmail but I’ve been getting late notifications as well. At least the emails are being sent and it no longer sends them as “Support”. I’ve made progress.

Well the only reason i say it’s google is because I’ve been getting my comments notification very slowly from my own blog. they all come in different orders sometimes. it’s nuts. So I think it’s gmail. LOL

I accidentally subscribed to this post twice when I was testing as an unregistered user and I’m not receiving them two at a time but even so none of them have been marked as spam by the gmail gods. odd…

I just switched to SMTP because PHP mail() stopped working for some unknown reason. It’s temporary until the new WP version is out. I’ll try switching back when I upgrade. Hopefully they’ll have fixed this bug.
