This week’s Topical Tuesday topic is Favourite Memories. I had a few memories in mind that I wanted to write about but I concluded to writing about a summer holiday I had about 6 years ago.

It was the first holiday for which I went somewhere without my parents and with my two best friends at the time. We went to Paros (a Greek island) just the three of us. Needless to say that we had an incredible time even though we didn’t do anything too exciting. We would stay in bed until late in the afternoon chatting away and laughing like maniacs and then when we did go out to explore the island we would end up in the most random places. We even bumped into some other people from our class who we didn’t know would be there.

This is a favourite memory for me because it was also the time I was transitioning from being a school student to being a University student. Everything was exciting and new and thinking ahead even as far as only the next month made us burst with excitement. I didn’t feel like a child any more and I didn’t feel like an adult but I felt different; I felt free.

It was the last summer of total fun. All my summers after that were mauled by unfortunate evens or bad timing or jobs. That summer and specifically that week was incredible. I know I will never live anything like it and that depresses me a little so I am planning to have a summer of fun again. There are a couple of plans in the horizon and if things go well I might even be going to America this summer. Whatever happens I want to have at least one more summer of carefree fun before I get into a steady job. Actually, I don’t just want, I NEED.
